Book 3 is a go

I heard back from my publisher that she *loves* the concept for book 3 in my teenage vampire series. Thank goodness. Now, I will post for all of you to see.

miSTAKEn

Piper Prescott is a college freshman like any other girl. Except she is carrying a pretty tough first year course load and her best friend is a vampire. And not just any vampire, but the Protector of Psi Phi Omega, Sorority house of the Undead. It seems like Piper is constantly being pulled into the complicated politics of half blood vampires and their struggle to carve out a niche in vampire society and she can't seem to understand advanced Chemisty. Things start looking up when hunky junior, Kaelen Aristo offers to tutor her. Could he be any hotter? Sure, he asks alot of weird questions and has some pretty strange ideas about appropriate places to study-I mean a graveyard? Hello? But there is something about him that Piper just can't help but fall for.

Kaelen is sure he's found the Protector of half blood vampires and to figure out her evil plan for world domination, he poses as her chemistry tutor. Surely she will slip up and reveal herself. Except, she doesn't act like a conspiring Undead and she really does have the prettiest eyes....But as a demon slayer, he can't let himself be fooled by her delightful sense of humor and quirky friends.

The beginning of the end is coming in a fornight, just as the prophesy foretold when Kaelen discovers Piper is not the Protector but really the Protector's best friend. Suddenly, everything Kaelen has learned about the Protector makes no sense. Could the signs be wrong? Piper is convinced the Protector is innocent and Kaelen admits he has his doubts about this Protector destroying the world, but still, he has his sacred duty. Now that Piper knows the truth about Kaelen can they trust each other long enough to figure out the prophesy or will she be forced to choose between friendship and love?

Teenage vampire series

I finally, and I stress finally, worked out book three of the teenage vampire series I am doing for Berkley Jam. The title was one of the toughest things to figure out because it has to be as clever as my other two titles and frankly, I can only be so clever. :)

So, here we go. Book three is currently titled miSTAKEn. So, here is the first two books in the series with release dates. As soon as book 3 is approved, I will post that as well.

Braced2Bite May 06

I am a popular cheerleader with a perfect smile and becoming a vampire isn’t going to change that. I don’t care if I have to wear fangs in the form of orthodontic headgear because my canine teeth were removed so I could get braces. I don’t care if the other vampires consider me a half blood because I can still be in the sun and don’t have to feed as much. My name is Colby Blanchard and nothing is going to stop me from getting Aidan Reynolds to ask me to Homecoming and being crowned Queen. Not even the dreamy Vampire Investigator, Thomas, assigned to my case.

It’s not my fault I don’t have a vampire license. He should have found my Attacker, the rogue vampire who turned me way before this. It’s not fair I have to defend my existence in front of some Vampire Tribunal in two weeks or I will be relieved of my undead status. Thomas has agreed to help me prepare my defense but then he goes and requests the job of whacking me if I am not granted a license. His kisses make my toes curl and then he wants to stake me? No way.

So I guess the only way to prove my worth is to bring in the rogue vampire myself. How hard could it be? The nut keeps following me everywhere. Maybe when I do that, the Tribunal will see my worth and everything will be okay. I should even have time to get a date to homecoming. I sure do look good in a tiara.

Fangs4Freaks Nov 06

I didn't ask to become a mutant half blood vampire my senior year in high school. I didn't ask to prove my worth to the Undead community or mean to start a half blood revolution. I just wanted to be Homecoming Queen. My name is Colby Blanchard and I am the Defender of all half blood vampires, much to their chagrin.

I was excited about going to college. I really was. The Tribunal set me up in my own sorority house so I could protect and defend other half-bloods like me. No one warned me being stuck in a house with a bunch of chicks from all walks of life with nothing in common except being Undead would suck so much. Pardon the pun.

Even when I am sent to save two half bloods from imminent death, they get mad that I am taking them away from their evening beach parties. Can I get a little gratitude here? I put my life on the line so they could exist and not one of them is cutting me any slack.

Thomas, my hunky vampire boyfriend, says I need to unite these twits but really, they can't even borrow each other's shoes without coming to blows. And who am I to unite them? I can't even get Thomas to go to second base, let alone lead my people.

My house sisters don't seem to understand how other Vampires feel about our existence. That is until one of us is killed. Suddenly, everyone stands united and we are ready to defend ourselves. But now we have a new problem. One of is may not be who they say they are. It's time to put our differences aside and work together to protect our house, our people and maybe even our shoes.

Hope you all enjoy them as much as I do. I am going to work on a proposal for yet another YA. As soon as I have info I can share on that one, I will post it.

Going MIA

I am changing the look of my blog to include only writing and publishing information. No more unexciting family stuff. I will be removing any posts that don't pertain to the craft. I have to confess, I have been so involved in reading blogs lately that I am not writing as much as I would like to write as many books as I would like. :) There is just to much talent out there entertaining me with their blogs and it has got to stop!!

So, I will be posting only once a week and that post will deal with my books only. Then I am going to stop reading other blogs until the end of the week. Reading my favorite blogs will be my reward for making my writing goals. I know that sounds harsh, but how else will I learn?! hahahahaha

Thanks all!

It's all subjective

I recieved a rejection letter in the mail today. The last of my agent queries for Braced2Bite. You know, the book that landed me a top agent and a 3 book deal with Berkley Jam? Yeah, that one.

I sent Braced2Bite to a couple of agents, one of which represents a friend of mine. When my friend told her agent about my sale, the first thing her agent asked is if she passed on the book. Lol. BTW, yes she did pass on it.

So never give up! This is a discouraging industry with a ton of rejection. If you take it to heart, it will crush your spirit. Just remember that if someone doesn't like it, someone else will. Just stay in the game. Don't take your ball and go home. Persevere and you will succeed.
